Former Huskies Player Seth Savage Signs Pro Contract
Richmond, VA - - Former Word of Life Bible Institute Huskies player Seth Savage announced this week that he will be playing with the Richmond Ramchargers in the ABA during the 2024-25 season! The Richmond Ramchargers have been absent from the ABA the past 3 seasons and will be returning to play this coming fall and Seth Savage will be a key contributor for Richmond.
Seth Savage had this to say about his time at Word of Life that helped lead him to this moment.
"The Word of Life Bible Institute was very instrumental in my basketball career. WOLBI was a place for me to discover my true identity in Christ and put my hope in Him rather than purely basketball. I learned a lot at WOLBI, but I believe one of the most important things I learned was how amazing basketball can be used as a tool to share the gospel with others and disciple your own teammates. I got tons of first-hand experience with basketball ministry and it taught me how to be bold. I learned how to share my testimony, pray with people, share the gospel, encourage, and so much more. I also have to thank my Coach Justin Cousins for the amount of time and belief he poured into me. Not only did he give me the ability to play lots of minutes and impact the game, but he called out the leader in me and gave me a spot as team captain as well as the dorm RA for the basketball team. These were very stretching responsibilities, but they were extremely helpful on and off the court and have continued to be of value to this day. In total WOLBI athletics was a very big turning point in my life. I give God all the glory for what He has done with me and what He is now entrusting me with. Please be praying for my team and I as we work hard this offseason and enter the regular season in November."
"Remember, wherever you're at in life and whatever your goals are, always give God the glory, stay humble, and never give up. You'll thank yourself later." – Seth Savage
Seth Savage Played at Word of Life from 2019/20 through the shortened 2020/21 season. As a key role player, Savage is now the first Huskies player to sign with a pro team after having played at Word of Life. The Huskies' goal is to train student-athletes in their skill as an athlete and to use that skill for an opportunity to share the Gospel among athletes in other places.
The Huskies would like to congratulate Seth on this big achievement, and we wish him the best as he turns another chapter in his life and we can't wait to see how God uses Seth during his career.
