Thank you Coach Cousins!
We want to recognize and say thank you to Coach Justin Cousins. Coach Cousins just finished his 9th and final season as the head coach of the men's basketball program. He is stepping down to focus more on his family and his position here at the Word of Life Bible Institute. Coach Cousins' passion for our athletics program and specifically men's basketball has been evident during his time as a coach. He has strived to make our program the best that it can be. This has been evident through his recruiting, player development, 2 Bible College Tournament Championships, and an additional Bible College Championship game appearance, 1 HVIAC conference championship game appearance, record for wins in a season, and record for career coaching wins. Coach Cousins currently sits at 66 career wins as a coach, which is more than any other coach in the history of our men's basketball program and the history of all the athletic programs at Word of Life. Not only has Coach Cousins brought success to our men's basketball program, but more importantly, he has brought a desire to further our mission of using sports as a platform to share the Gospel and disciple our student athletes. During Coach Cousins' time as the head coach, over 100 students have been under his coaching, and over 1000 student athletes from other college teams have heard the Gospel.
Discipleship goes beyond the court. It is life on life, and because of that, we also want to thank Justin's wife, Alicia, for her support. Many times, Alicia and their kids, Hudson and Harper, will travel with the team, be at all the home games, they will have the team over to their home, and more. The team is a part of their family in a lot of ways. This gives valuable life-on-life discipleship lessons that all the players can take with them after they leave. We are thankful for their time serving the Lord through our basketball program.
