Huskies Dominant in Tennessee, Win Bible College NIT
Powell, TN – The Huskies took on the Royal Crusaders from The Crown College in the Bible College NIT championship game on Saturday afternoon. The Huskies defeated Patrick Henry College on Friday night to secure their spot in the final match while the Royal Crusaders beat Dayspring Bible College. The game was played on the Royal Crusaders' home court, but the #1-seeded Huskies played as the home team.
The energy was high for both teams to start the game. The Huskies came out with tight pressure on every possession to create turnovers and easy baskets. This pressure proved successful as the Royal Crusaders turned the ball over eight times which led to several layups. The three-point shot kept the Royal Crusaders in the game early despite the turnovers, as they knocked down five three-point shots.
The Huskies got into foul trouble early in the first half and found themselves in the penalty with still five minutes in the half. Dan Morales, the Huskies top scorer in the semifinal round, was unable to stay on the court for an extended period of time due to early fouls. Lukas Parschauer stepped up for the Huskies in the first half with 13 points. Ethan Freeman and Justin Barrett led the Royal Crusaders in scoring at the half with 8 points apiece. Efraim Marvin threw up an acrobatic floater to beat the buzzer and give the Huskies a 44-34 lead at halftime.
The second half was all Huskies. They quickly extended the lead to 14 with a dunk by Javion Glenn, getting the bench pumped up. The Royal Crusaders felt the pressure of the game beginning to slip away and tried to get quick baskets. However, they could not get many shots to fall and it led to open shots for the Huskies on the other end. The Huskies would get hot from all over the court and take complete control of the game and would win in dominant fashion, 95-65.
Logan McGraw led the Royal Crusaders with 18 points with 4 three-pointers. Blake Gossel had a huge game for the Huskies, leading all scorers with 20 points. Gossel provided this scoring burst coming off the bench and playing 18 minutes. Lukas Parschauer finished his dominant game with 17 points and 15 rebounds.
The Huskies leave Tennessee as the 2025 Bible College NIT Champions. They last won this tournament on their home court in 2022. They will begin post-season conference play next week. Dates and times to be announced.
