Huskies Fall To Begin 2026
Ulster, NY – January 11, 2026 – Word of Life's men's basketball team struggled to find offensive rhythm in a 71-52 road loss to SUNY Ulster on Saturday, as turnovers and inefficient shooting plagued the Huskies throughout the contest.
The Huskies faced an uphill battle after falling behind 39-22 at halftime, unable to overcome a 17-point deficit despite outscoring SUNY Ulster 30-32 in the second half. Word of Life's 21 turnovers proved costly, as the hosts converted those miscues into 23 points while dominating the paint with 46 points to WOLBI's 26.
Xander Eason (#2) provided the lone offensive bright spot, leading all WOLBI scorers with 27 points on an efficient 11-for-17 shooting performance. Eason added three three-pointers and four assists in 39 minutes of action. Dan Morales (#24) contributed nine points and a team-high eight rebounds, including two offensive boards.
The Huskies' shooting woes extended beyond the arc, where they connected on just 5-of-24 attempts (20.8%), and to the free-throw line with a 7-for-14 showing (50.0%). Word of Life was outrebounded 40-23 overall and surrendered 13 offensive rebounds to SUNY Ulster, leading to 10 second-chance points for the hosts.
