Huskies Fall in Bible College NIT Final
Lake Zurich, IL – February 14, 2026 – The Word of Life Huskies participated in the Bible College NIT Championship game Saturday evening, but fell short against Patrick Henry 101-92.
Patrick Henry controlled much of the contest, building a 54–39 halftime lead behind efficient inside play from Andrew Penrod and Adrian Van Hofwegen. Penrod powered his way to a double-double with 24 points and 13 rebounds, shooting an impressive 10-of-13 from the field. Van Hofwegen added 25 points and 12-of-13 shooting from the foul line, helping Patrick Henry stay ahead when momentum started to shift late.
The Huskies battled back in the second half, outscoring Patrick Henry 53–47 behind a red-hot performance from Xander Eason, who dropped a game-high 30 points while connecting on seven three-pointers. Miles Shine provided a massive boost off the bench with 18 points on 8-for-10 shooting, while Harry Keegan added 15 points and four assists.
Although Word of Life shot a solid 50.7% from the field and 44.1% from beyond the arc, Patrick Henry's dominance on the boards (36–20) and steady free-throw shooting (31-of-41, 75.6%) proved decisive. The Patriots' balance and composure down the stretch kept the Huskies from completing their comeback.
The Word of Life Huskies finish the 2025/26 campaign with a 7-20 record and finish as the runner-up at the 2026 Bible College NIT. The Huskies would like to thank all of our fans for their support, and we look forward to being back on the court in the fall of 2026!
