Word of Life Huskies Sweep Home Weekend with Back-to-Back Wins

The Word of Life Huskies men's soccer team enjoyed a dominant weekend on home turf, posting back-to-back victories over NHTI and the University of Maine–Augusta to improve their record to 2-3-4 overall and 2-3-2 in conference play.

Game 1: Word of Life 3, NHTI 0 (October 4, 2025)

The Huskies started their weekend with an explosive first half against NHTI, netting all three goals before halftime and cruising to a 3–0 shutout victory.

Freshman Kleber Flores got things rolling early, finishing a setup from Felipe De Campos in the 6th minute to give the Huskies a quick lead. Late in the half, the offense struck twice in under a minute—Bernabe Reyes scored off a pass from Henrique Borges at 44:05, followed by George Rohrbaugh, who capitalized just 44 seconds later with help from Morgan Bender, sealing the 3–0 advantage heading into the break.

Goalkeeper Raphael Cournoyer anchored the defense with a stellar performance, recording seven saves to earn his third clean sheet of the season. Word of Life held a 16–12 edge in shots and showed strong composure throughout, shutting down multiple NHTI counterattacks.

Game 2: Word of Life 5, Maine.-Augusta 1 (October 5, 2025)

The Huskies kept the momentum rolling just 24 hours later, powering past Maine–Augusta with a commanding 5–1 victory on Sunday afternoon. After conceding the opening goal in the 22nd minute, Word of Life responded with five unanswered tallies, including a hat trick from Henrique Borges.

Senior George Rohrbaugh tied the game at 1–1 before halftime with an assist from Santiago Miranda, then turned provider in the second half—setting up Austin Hartwell's go-ahead goal in the 54th minute. Borges then took over, scoring three times between the 57th and 74th minutes, displaying clinical finishing and strong positioning in the attacking third.

Word of Life fired off 35 total shots (15 on goal) and controlled possession for much of the match. Cournoyer and backup Michael D'Augostine combined for four saves in net to secure the win.
