Huskies Men's Soccer advance to YSCC Final Four
Pottersville, NY - Word of Life men's soccer secured a gritty 1–0 victory over Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences on Saturday afternoon, earning their third win of the 2025 season behind a strong team performance and another clean sheet from goalkeeper Raphael Cournoyer.
The Huskies controlled much of the first half, generating steady pressure through corners and set pieces. Their persistence paid off in the 22nd minute when Felipe De Campos tipped in a cross off a corner kick from Santiago Miranda to break the deadlock. Word of Life nearly added to their lead minutes later, as shots from Borges and Albright challenged Albany keeper Jacob Amaral, but he held firm to keep his side within reach.
Albany Pharmacy created chances of their own, particularly through forward Ian Rathbun, who forced multiple saves and rattled the crossbar early in the second half. Despite their attacking effort and a series of late corners, the Panthers struggled to find the finishing touch past Cournoyer, who made several key saves to preserve the lead.
The closing minutes saw tight defensive work from Word of Life as Albany pushed numbers forward, but the hosts' back line stayed organized to see out the clean sheet. Rohrbaugh's first-half goal ultimately stood as the game-winner, giving Word of Life a hard-fought home victory.
Cournoyer finished with five saves, while Amaral recorded four for Albany College of Pharmacy.
The Huskies advance to the 2025 YSCC Men's Soccer Final Four on Saturday, November 1st, and will play the 1 seed, Central Maine Community College, at 11:00 am at the Word of Life Bible Institute.
