Bio
Justin Lough is entering his fourth full season as head coach of the WOLBI/Davis College Huskies this Fall (2023) with high expectations. Beginning his coaching career at WOLBI with an undefeated and abbreviated season due to COVID in the Spring of 2021, Lough followed up in the Fall of 2021 with a run to the HVIAC Championship game ending in a hard-fought loss to Five Towns College. The Fall 2022 season brought an appearance in the HVIAC semifinals with yet another loss to Five Towns College. Both the 2021 and 2022 seasons ended with the WOLBI Men’s Soccer coaches being awarded HVIAC Coaching Staff of the Year. Both squads also possessed one USCAA Second-Team All-American each: Stephane Mendoza (2021) and Raphael Cournoyer (2022).
Although Lough does not possess prior coaching experience, he played in high school at Schroon Lake Central (awarded MVP of Section VII, Division III in 2013), at WOLBI for two years (’14-’16), and then transferred to play at Cedarville University (NCAA DII). After playing one game for Cedarville’s reserves, he decided to focus on his studies and stopped playing competitively. A torn ACL shortly thereafter ensured that his competitive playing career was over. Nonetheless, Lough remains a student of the game, a hardcore Manchester United fan, and a cautiously optimistic USMNT devotee.
Lough’s biggest passion is to see young people come to saving faith in Jesus Christ and be disciplined in their walk with Him. It is his desire to see every player he coaches grow in their relationship with Jesus, even more than they grow in their soccer abilities. The goal is to field a team that competes at a high level in every game, but more importantly, a team that glorifies God and adorns the Gospel at every turn. Justin is happily married to Julia. Together they have one beautiful daughter, Eloise, who serves as WOLBI Men’s Soccer’s littlest fan. Justin is currently working on his Master of Divinity from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
