Huskies Fall to the Saints
Saranac Lake, NY – January 10, 2026 – The Word of Life Huskies women's basketball team struggled to find an offensive rhythm in a 48-34 road loss to North Country Community College on Friday afternoon, as shooting woes plagued the visitors throughout the contest.
Word of Life's offense went ice-cold in the second quarter, managing just four points while North Country extended a 13-11 lead to 24-15 at halftime. The Huskies couldn't recover despite outscoring the Saints 13-11 in the fourth quarter, finishing the game shooting a season-low 19.4% (12-62) from the field and 8.6% (3-35) from three-point range.
Ellie Rishel led the Huskies with a double-double, posting nine points and 10 rebounds while adding three assists in 36 minutes of action. Rishel was one of the few bright spots offensively, converting 3-of-5 from the field. Regan George provided a spark off the bench with eight points on 3-for-6 shooting, including two three-pointers in 21 minutes.
Stephanie Augusta battled inside for seven points and 10 rebounds despite a difficult 3-for-17 shooting night, while Jordyn Wilkins dished out a team-high four assists to go along with seven rebounds. The Huskies' perimeter shooting struggled significantly, with starters combining to go 1-for-25 from beyond the arc.
North Country's Chloe LaBelle dominated with 15 points, 15 rebounds, and eight assists, while Cora Long and Ondrae'yah Davis each added 11 points. The Saints outrebounded Word of Life 50-43 and forced 17 turnovers while committing 18 themselves.
With the loss, the Huskies fall to 3-7 overall and 3-5 in conference play. Word of Life will look to regroup and address its shooting struggles before its next outing.
