Huskies Win at Dutchess
Poughkeepsie, NY – January 31, 2026 – Word of Life used a fast start and dominant work on the glass to earn a 65–38 road win over Dutchess Community College on Saturday afternoon in Poughkeepsie.
Strong start and wire-to-wire win
The Huskies set the tone early with a 20–9 opening quarter and carried a 31–18 lead into halftime behind an efficient offense and aggressive rebounding. They never let up after the break, outscoring Dutchess 34–20 over the final two periods and holding the Falcons to 10 points or fewer in every quarter.
Rishel powers the offense
Ellie Rishel delivered a standout performance, pouring in a game-high 26 points on 11-of-16 shooting while adding 11 rebounds for a double-double. She was unstoppable around the rim, repeatedly finishing in traffic and going a perfect 4-for-4 at the free-throw line while also collecting 5 steals.
Frontcourt dominance
The Huskies controlled the paint, finishing with a 49–25 rebounding advantage and 17 offensive boards that created second-chance opportunities all afternoon. Stephanie Augusta posted 13 points and 9 rebounds, and Eva Penning added 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds to give Word of Life three players with double-digit boards or within one rebound of that mark.
Backcourt contributions and defense
Sloan Clark added 11 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals, knocking down two threes and providing steady perimeter scoring. Autumn Bone chipped in 5 points and 3 offensive rebounds off the bench, while the Huskies' pressure defense piled up 18 steals and forced 22 Dutchess turnovers to keep the hosts out of rhythm.
Limiting Dutchess on offense
Word of Life's defense held Dutchess to 27.1 percent shooting from the field and just 5-of-27 from three-point range. Kamira Sutton led Dutchess with 13 points, but no other Falcon reached double figures as the Huskies consistently contested shots and closed out possessions with strong rebounding.
The Huskies will be next in action on February 11 against Patrick Henry College (VA) at 4:00 pm. The game can also be streamed on Huskies TV on the YSCC Sports Network.
