Randolph Center, VT. – September 10, 2025 – The Word of Life women's soccer team put together a commanding offensive performance on Wednesday afternoon, rolling past Vermont State University with a 6–0 shutout in their first road contest of the season.
The Huskies wasted little time taking control. Coretta Kruse opened the scoring in the 5th minute, finishing off a pass from Kylie Butash for her Second goal of the season. Just five minutes later, freshman Eva Penning doubled the lead with a strike of her own.
Word of Life continued to apply pressure, finding the back of the net four more times before halftime. Sloan Clark tallied a brace, scoring in the 19th and 34th minutes, while Briella Emmert (21') and Ellen Hennessey (38') each added goals to round out the game. Penning and Rachel Hay each picked up assists in the offensive surge.
The Huskies outshot the home side 12–2, with a 9–1 advantage in shots on target. Goalkeeper Ryleigh Gangarossa anchored the defense with one save to secure the shutout in net.
Vermont State battled to create chances but was unable to break through against the compact Word of Life backline. The Huskies' quick ball movement and depth proved too much as they rotated through nearly their entire roster in the first half.
With the win, Word of Life improves to 2–0 overall (1-0 YSCC), while Vermont State drops to 0–2 (0-1 YSCC). The Huskies will look to carry their momentum into their next matchup as they continue YSCC play at Albany College of Pharmacy on Tuesday, September 16, at 7:00 pm.
